 Politi Eyecare & Aesthetics is proud to offer the  Valeda™  Light Delivery System, an FDA-authorized, non-invasive treatment for eligible patients with dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Board-certified retina specialist Dr. Michael Politi provides comprehensive evaluations and personalized treatment plans for patients throughout Roslyn, the North Shore of Long Island, Nassau County, and the surrounding New York communities. 

The  Valeda™  Light Delivery System is the first FDA-authorized photobiomodulation (PBM) treatment for eligible patients with dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Unlike injections or surgery, Valeda uses precisely controlled wavelengths of light to stimulate retinal cellular function and support retinal health.

Treatment is painless, non-invasive, and performed comfortably in the office without injections or surgery.

Valeda may be appropriate for patients diagnosed with certain stages of dry age-related macular degeneration, particularly those with intermediate AMD and significant drusen.

You may be a candidate if you have:

• Intermediate dry macular degeneration 
• Large drusen 
• Gradual central vision changes 
• Difficulty reading 
• Difficulty recognizing faces 
• Reduced contrast sensitivity 
• Distortion or blurred central vision 

Every patient receives a comprehensive retinal examination, OCT imaging, and evaluation by our retina specialist to determine whether Valeda is appropriate.

 Valeda uses photobiomodulation, delivering specific wavelengths of visible light to retinal cells.

The goal is to support mitochondrial function within retinal cells, helping improve cellular energy production and retinal performance in appropriately selected patients.

Treatment is completely non-invasive and requires no injections or recovery time.

 Each Valeda treatment session is performed comfortably in our office.

Patients simply sit at the treatment device while controlled light therapy is delivered to each eye.

Most patients experience:

Treatment consists of multiple sessions completed over several weeks according to the FDA-authorized treatment protocol.
